Zika warning ended for travel to Miami’s Wynwood district
That prompted state officials to create a warning box around the Wynwood community to show where the virus was spreading.

“This outbreak would have kept going without the aerial spraying”, Petersen said.
Our team found that locals, the ones who need to use bug spray, clear up standing water, and maybe even change the way they have sex, are apathetic to all of it.
An arts district north of downtown Miami, Wynwood became the first area in the continental United States with mosquito transmissions of the virus that can cause bad birth defects.
Wynwood has now gone 45 days, or three incubation cycles of the disease-carrying mosquito, without a new bite-related case, leading the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lift its unprecedented advisory to avoid the neighborhood. “That is still in effect”, CDC spokesman Tom Skinner said. “People were scared to come to Wynwood because of it”, said Shane Sumbu, the manager of a Wynwood store. Of course, pregnant women and their partners living in or around the area should still take steps to prevent mosquito bites, and would-be travelers can still consider postponing non-essential travel to Miami-Dade County in general, CDC officials said.
One problem with private testing, say health officials, is that most commercial labs can not offer all the tests needed to determine conclusively if a person has been exposed to Zika.
The more stringent CDC recommendations remain for an area of Miami Beach, which had an advisory posted on. Another 10 people caught Zika in Florida before returning home elsewhere.
There is still a concern of the virus’ spread in Miami.
It can be spread sexually but it’s mostly spread by mosquitoes.
The $1 billion-plus to fight the mosquito-borne Zika virus is months overdue.
At present, the threat of Zika in Cambodia remains just that. The virus causes permanent brain damage when a developing baby is infected. The virus is also associated with nerve disorders which can cause temporary paralysis.
“Moving forward this is great news”. On Friday, the mayor’s office announced that the infection zone has expanded from a 4.5-square-mile area composed mostly of South Beach, a popular tourist destination, to a larger, 7-square-mile area.
“(The) federal government still can not agree on spending money to stomp out this serious disease. Florida continues to battle a widening outbreak of Zika in trendy Miami Beach.
People who live or visit in Miami-Dade ounty should still take precautions like wearing insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and trousers and using condoms during sex to prevent mosquito bites and sexual transmission of Zika virus.
The cases put the Wynwood neighborhood in the spotlight, and the CDC issued a travel warning telling pregnant women to stay away from the area.

As of Friday, 13 cases of Zika virus have been reported in Arkansas, according to the state Department of Health. Allison was protesting the use of the pesticide naled, which was used in the area to combat Zika.
