Linden is a neighboring community immediately southwest of Elizabeth, New Jersey – Rahami’s hometown, where Federal Bureau of Investigation officers overnight found and defused a nest of bombs planted at the train station.

She said no one has been charged.

Late Saturday, a pressure cooker bomb filled with shrapnel detonated in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, injuring 29 people, while police discovered another unexploded pressure cooker device four blocks away, while a pipe bomb detonated in New Jersey’s Seaside Park, an hour from Elizabeth.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the Saturday night blast in Manhattan that injured 29 people didn’t appear to be linked to global terrorism.

Officials have not revealed any details about the makeup of the pressure-cooker device, only to say that it had wires and a phone attached to it. The men saw wires and a pipe coming out of the bag on top of a municipal garbage can as they came out of a nearby restaurant, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said, reports The New York Times.

A pipe bomb exploded in a New Jersey seaside town on Saturday morning shortly before thousands of runners were due to take part in a charity race for United States marines and sailors.

One of those devices exploded on 23rd Street, but the fact that it was partly under a metal trash container may have diminished the force of the blast.

The bombings in New York City and New Jersey happened the same day that a man stabbed and injured nine people at a Minnesota mall before an off-duty police officer fatally shot him.

The intense investigation into the weekend bomb blasts in NY and New Jersey is leading authorities to signs of a possible terror cell in those two states, law enforcement officials told CNN Monday.

Obama is in NY for the annual U.N. General Assembly gathering.

The man sought for questioning was identified as 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami.

No worldwide militant group has said it was behind the the NY blast.

Andrew Cuomo on Sunday said he and other officials made the decision to increase security deployment though there is “no reason to believe at this time that there is an immediate threat” following an explosion on Saturday in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood that injured 29. CNN described the item as “a pressure cooker with dark-colored wiring protruding, connected by silver duct tape to what appears to be a cellphone”. On Sunday night, police blew up the device, rendering it safe.

Nine persons were also injured on Saturday night in a stabbing attack at a mall in the USA state of Minnesota.

The FBI and police are deciding how to remove the device, after the bomb squad suggested the package could be a live bomb. At the press conference, de Blasio would not confirm the specific site of the explosion’s origin, but did say it appeared to be outdoors.
