‘Downton’s’ Maggie Smith asks Jimmy Kimmel where her Emmy is

“I was very astonished and pleased to win the award”. How many times do you think she turned up to accept the award? Soloway asked Hollywood to hire more transgender talent.

The Emmy Awards had its share of surprises, sure things and Donald Trump jokes. Before that, she honed in on GOP contender Donald Trump’s campaign. Kimmel said. “No. He would be at home quietly rubbing up against his wife Malaria while she pretends to be asleep”.

HBO programs earned best drama and comedy – two of the night’s biggest honors – for repeat winners “Thrones” and “Veep”, respectively. “Our show started out as a political satire, but now it seems like a documentary”.

Overnight, in a ridiculously sweet message posted to Twitter by Downton’s US Network Masterpiece PBS, Smith issued the flawless reply to Kimmel’s “come and get it” ultimatum. It was her third win for playing the formidable dowager. As became her custom, she didn’t attend the ceremony.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t in Los Angeles to accept the award.

Ben Mendelsohn of “Bloodline” won as best supporting drama actor and also was a no-show.

Instead, host Jimmy Kimmel gave an acceptance speech. “So, this is nice, but this evening genuinely has a sense of loss”. “The People v O.J.’s” Courtney B. Vance closed his speech with, “Obama out”.

“Mom, we did it!”, Anderson shouted, hoisting his trophy and dedicating the award to his late mother, Ora Zella Anderson. “And I’m so glad that he liked “Veep” because his opinion was the one that really mattered”. But she knew who to credit.

Clinton tweeted back: “Congratulations on your Emmy, Kate”. McKinnon’s portrayal of Clinton is her best-known impression. The scene was part of Kimmel’s opening monologue in which he’s trying to make his way to the ceremony. “Thank you.” The former “Seinfeld” star later saw her show win its second consecutive comedy series trophy.

Kimmel later fake-blamed uber-producer Mark Burnett – who brought Trump’s “The Apprentice” to the small screen – for the billionaire’s political rise. The only truly odd note was a poor attempt at a Bill Cosby joke. The reality star remains a member of the Television Academy, which votes on the awards, and it can probably be assumed that if he does vote, there’s one CBS show in particular he leaves off his ballot every year.
