Wenger wants Arsenal penalty taker resolved
Hull City caretaker manager Mike Phelan says he will sit down with his family to discuss taking the job on a permanent basis after his side lost 4-1 at home to Arsenal.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game Wenger said he was surprised that the Chile worldwide took the kick and would be speaking to his players to determine why he had taken responsibility for the penalty.
“When Sanchez plays up front, he likes to come to the ball. But he was not planned, Sanchez”.
After watching his team improve with the Coquelin-Cazorla pairing allowing his creative players freedom in the final third, Wenger appeared to be tweaking his starting XI with the additions of striker Lucas Perez and defender Shkodran Mustafi. “When it came back to 2-1 you know what can happen, it would have been a shame not to win”.
“Then again, we can look at the other offence and it’s the opposite of that”.
“I think overall we had a convincing performance in two different situations”, Arsenal boss Wenger said. You have to accept that.
Theo Walcott and new signing Ganit Xhaka ensured the match was safely out of reach of the hard fighting Hull who were reduced to ten men in the 41st minute, after a handball by Hull’s Jake Livermore inside the box.
“I’m happy with my performances”.
In the first game since Thursday’s announcement that a takeover by Chinese group Yunyi Guokai Sports Development Limited – led by Guochuan Lai – had been completed, West Brom surged into a four-goal lead through Nacer Chadli, superb on his home debut, Salomon Rondon, James McClean and Chadli once more finding the target. “He has that in him, he has it in the locker, shots from distance and left footed players usually have that”. A loss would leave them with seven points from five games.
Arsenal made it two before that, with a swift move that ended with Iwobi backheeling Walcott through, with his shot ending in the net via Harry Maguire’s head. Minutes later it should’ve been two; Iwobi’s shot was parried straight out to Mesut Özil, who missed the open goal and fired over.
After a slow start, the Gunners eventually broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Alex Iwobi volleyed home from close range.
According to press reports, Sanchez wants an escape clause in any contract extension, but the Gunners are said to be unwilling.
“He can break the lines with a pass and individually as well, so there’s a lot in the locker”.
“He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility”.
“He can take people on much more and he has gained power as well. It’s interesting what he has done”.
“I thought Iwobi, 100%”. “Physically, and maybe technically, it’s easier to play 11 against 10, but mentally it’s more hard. We had a very tough game against Southampton, we got a great point at PSG in the week and we’ve been tested this week with a couple of away games”, Walcott responded when asked how he felt about his landmark goal.

“He’s a good example to follow”, said the Frenchman.
