Chargers to sign ex-Titan McCluster
One thing is for sure, the Chargers will need McCluster to play a big role going forward if they’re hoping to make the playoffs this season. The Chargers, who are already without top wide receiver Keenan Allen, announced yesterday that running back Danny Woodhead will miss the season due to a torn ACL.

McCluster’s -0.15 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt ranked 62nd among the 72 running backs with at least 50 rushes past year.
McCluster, 28, is in his seventh National Football League season and appears set to re-join his former head coach, now offensive coordinator in San Diego, Ken Whisenhunt, who coached the talented dual-threat back in Tennessee for two-years.
The Chargers are expected to sign Dexter McCluster to replace the loss of production in the passing game.
McCluster, who would serve as a change-of-pace back, would join fellow running backs Melvin Gordon, Kenneth Farrow, Andrew Williams and fullback Derek Watt on San Diego’s roster. He led all National Football League running backs in receptions past year and is the second crucial player in as many weeks to be lost for the season.

He signed a three-year contract with the Titans in 2014 following the best season of his career in 2013, when he was a Pro Bowl selection as a member of the Chiefs. He wrapped up his time in Tennessee with 247 rushing yards and 260 receiving in 2015.
