While there is a scarcity of information available, TMZ is reporting that Jolie filed for divorce due to Pitt’s “parenting of the children”.

“Brad was supportive, and wanted to be there for her, so they chose to marry – more for the sake of their six children than themselves”. The filing dated the couple’s separation to last Thursday.

This afternoon Brad Pitt released a statement, telling People magazine, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids”.
Associated Press on Tuesday reported an attorney for Angelina, Robert Offer, said she has filed for the dissolution of the marriage. She is seeking physical custody of their six children, with visitation rights for Pitt. It’s the third for Jolie Pitt, who was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller. A huge part of this speculation has been fueled by the rumor that she and Pitt divorced because she didn’t want to have children and he did.

Their relationship was steady fodder for tabloids with reports focusing on what role Jolie played the breakup of Pitt’s marriage to actress Jennifer Aniston, and, more recently, possible trouble in the marriage.
At age 37, Jolie had a preventive double mastectomy in February of 2013 after learning she carried a gene that made it extremely likely she would get breast cancer.
“Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film”, she added.
In August of 2014, Jolie and Pitt exchanged vows in a small chapel at the Chateau Miraval, their Southern France home in the Provence hamlet of Correns.

Aniston, Pitt’s ex, spoke to Vanity Fair about the pictures, famously saying, “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing”, though she didn’t think the spread was intentionally meant to be hurtful. You have this person you live with who really knows you, and you know them so well.
