The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today registered a case to probe the terror attack at the Army installation in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir in which 18 soldiers were killed and dozens others injured after four Pakistani militants stormed the base.

Pakistan’s media is coming up with multiple theories to justify their stance that it was India that orchestrated the Uri terror attack.
Heating up the already frayed tempers, India has agreed to give political asylum to Balochistan Republican Party leader Brahumdagh Bugti.
Pakistan accuses New Delhi of using the attack to deflect attention from unrest in India’s only Muslim-majority state.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday tweeted that “Pakistan is a terrorist state”. Even his own supporters are criticising him for the government’s inaction after a terror attack in Kashmir over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Indian and Pakistani press have reported Sharif’s efforts to internationalise Kashmir in stark contrast to one another.
“It’s a tactical decision”, the officer said.
“India has erected a type-A fence all along the Line of Control besides installing state-of-the-art laser sensors to detect any cross LoC movement”, the newspaper wrote. The assailants were killed by the army.

The source said the Pakistani fire from small and automatic arms targeting Indian posts in Lachhipora and Boniyar villages of the border area caused no damage to Indian posts.
“You will see multiple serious action against Pakistan, the results will hurt their economy”, the Indian interior ministry official said. In a series of tweets, he attacked Modi and the Centre over the terror strike.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Rangers have violated the 2003 ceasefire agreement along the global boundary and the LoC – the de facto border that divides Jammu and Kashmir between the two neighbours.
“There are no easy options, but not doing anything is also not an option”, said an Indian defence source.
No matter how strongly many in India demand a forceful retaliation, analysts say New Delhi’s options are probably limited to imposing diplomatic and trade restrictions on Islamabad.
Army spokesman Manish Kumar said a number of infiltrators had been killed, but he could not confirm how many.

But India’s operational and intelligence capabilities to carry out such operations are unproven and carry the risk of going wrong. “But Sharif harped on the resolutions that the United Nations itself has suggested is not valid anymore because of Pakistani transgressions, including initiating wars and ceding territory to China”, elaborates an article in the Times of India on Sharif’s letter to the UNSC.
