VA bishop calls on National Football League to make players stand during anthem

New Oklahoma City Thunder guard Victor Oladipo apparently has no issue chiming in on the biggest story around the sports world today. They are learning about the value in peaceful protest and that you can silently make a stand for what you believe in. So it wouldn’t be surprising if players follow the 49ers quarterback’s lead once the season starts in a few weeks. “But I think there are some major changes that we can make that are very reasonable”.

According to the National Football League, Kaepernick said, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color”. I, for one, will boycott every sport and sponsor, and not support any politician who does not distinctively honor those who have sacrificed for freedoms for all Americans.

“I respect everyone’s right to protest”. This is a stance Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and other National Basketball Association players have all agreed with and support. “And hopefully the conversation is about what his message was and not ‘Is he gonna stand, or is he gonna sit for the national anthem?'” Curry told CNBC.

On ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith blew the whistle on Jones’ fake outrage by reporting that players were not mandated to stand until 2009.

Oladipo was quoted as saying he believes the anthem will be protested. “I think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody is coming from”.

Some white Americans have protested using violence throughout the history of this country from the Civil War to the fight against civil rights.

“I don’t want it to be taken as something that was us trying to separate people”, defensive linesman Jason McCourty said.

Athletes have long before used the national platform to protest the countries national injustices but have not gained the national attention till now.

‘This is why I, as a matter of conscience, chose not to stand today’.

If you go to the place of you’re telling a black man, or a black woman, ‘You should know your place and stay in it, ‘ when you get to there, them is fighting words. Will NBA players decide to boycott the National Anthem as several NFL players have?
