Democrat Hillary Clinton on Monday accused Republican Donald Trump of aiding Islamic State recruitment, while Trump said she had helped weaken national security as bomb blasts in NY and New Jersey resonated on the USA presidential trail.

Hillary Clinton says she understands how to fight terrorism and is the only candidate running for president who “has been part of the hard decisions to take terrorists off the battlefield”. What does that mean? Sometimes that involved direct kinetic action, sometimes that involved working with allies and partners, sometimes that involved capture. “Attack after attack, from 9/11 to San Bernardino, we have seen how failures to screen who is entering our United States puts all of our citizens, everyone in this room, in danger”.

He then quoted Clinton as saying: “We know that Donald Trump’s comments have been used online for recruitment of terrorists”. During a campaign stop last week at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Mrs. Obama shared her own frustration about voters who can’t seem to muster the same enthusiasm for Clinton as they did for her husband. Authorities were also investigating the stabbings of nine people at a Minnesota mall as a possible act of terrorism.

“We’re going after the bad guys and we’re going to get them, but we’re not going to go after an entire religion”, Mrs Clinton said.

In Ohio, a CBS/YouGov poll showed Clinton doing better with voters under 30, winning 51% of them and holding 32-point lead on Trump.

Clinton “talks tougher about my supporters than she does about radical Islamic terrorists”, Trump jabbed during his campaign rally in Estero, Florida – outside of Fort Myers – on Monday afternoon.

“We should also launch an intelligence surge so that we identify and thwart attacks before they are carried out”, she said.

Obama offered prayers for those who have been injured and praised police in New York City and New Jersey. We have been in touch with various officials, including the mayor’s office in NY, to learn what they are discovering as they conduct this investigation. I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. “We will direct the full resources of the federal government to make sure that the investigation goes forward aggressively”, he added. “The bombing in the Chelsea neighborhood here in ny injured more than two dozen people”, Obama said, recounting attacks believed to have been carried by Ahmad Khan Rahami, who was captured Monday morning. Trump said in one tweet. Her campaign acknowledges they need to do more to get millennials on board.

CNN then played tape of Mrs. Clinton’s comments – but they edited out her first sentence, where she admitted too the NY explosion was indeed a bomb.
