Daniel Radcliffe Calls Hollywood Undeniably Racist, Criticizes Donald Trump
If you think that Hollywood is a progressive wonderland of racial tolerance, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has some bad news for you. During their time, they asked the actor point blank if Hollywood has been racist, or is now racist.

The “Harry Potter” actor, sitting down Tuesday with BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire to discuss a range of topics from Donald Trump to racism in the entertainment industry, told the host that it was “pretty undeniable” that Hollywood is home to racists.
Radcliffe said of Lawrence’s essay, “It’s insane that that [sexism in Hollywood through a wage gap between men and women] still goes on, and it’s also in department to department in the industry too”.
Daniel Radcliffe: “We like to think of ourselves as being a very progressive industry but we have been lagging behind in all kinds of areas and it’s been very well documented”. I feel like there’s a lot that’s unseen about the process. Maybe if 30 years had passed I would be thinking differently. “I’m starting to see it in scripts that I read”, he added.
The “Harry Potter” star – who starred in the fantasy franchise for 10 years – was left red faced a decade ago when he thought a girl was asking him for a selfie when she actually just wanted to move past him and get out of the crowd after a play.
“It’s insane that that still goes on, and it’s also in department to department in the industry too”, Radcliffe said. “There are some departments that are predominantly male, and again that’s something that is changing, but it’s interesting”.
“Radcliffe also voiced his concerns about how gay actors may have had trouble coming out for fear of being typecast in gay roles”.
Radcliffe’s latest film, Imperium, is out on Friday (September 23).

There’s very few (gay actors) – well, Neil Patrick Harris has made a career out of playing the the straightest guy on television, which is fantastic.
