Karyn Kusama is reuniting with Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, the writers behind her 2015 cult thriller The Invitation, on the upcoming horror film Breed from Fox.

Frank, who also adapted Get Shorty and Out of Sight, has a new production deal with 20th Century Fox.
“Breed” follows an upscale NY couple who are struggling to conceive a child and turn to a questionable and controversial Eastern European clinic.
“Breed” will be Frank’s first project under his 20th Century Fox production deal, setting the stage for a slate of adult genre films in the middle budget range of $20 million to $30 million. The story centers on a wealthy couple living in NY who are having trouble conceiving a child. They get more than what they bargained for, though, with TheWrap teasing that it’s only ten years after the artificial childbirth that the terrifying side-effects begin to rear their ugly head.

“Invitation” writers and producers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will reprise those roles for “Breed”, which is based on a novel of the same name by Chase Novak – whose pen name is Scott Spencer (“Endless Love”, “Waking the Dead”).
Prior to The Invitation, Kusama, Hay, and Manfredi collaborated together on Aeon Flux with Charlize Theron, which is probably something they’d like to forget about. As a last-ditch attempt to make their dream of parenthood a reality, the Twisdens travel to Slovenia, where they undergo a painful procedure that gives them what they’ve so fervently wanted…but with bad consequences. The trio made an emotional horror movie with The Invitation.
