“The train proceeded on to the tail track”.

“It was the end of the line”.

Brideaux said the woman suffered serious injuries, but described her condition as stable. The Calgary Emergency Medical Services (EMS) went from auto to vehicle to check if there were any more passengers or injuries. Emergency Medical Services spokesman Stuart Brideaux said it “was hard to get her out of the damaged train”, reports CBC.

Listener Tim was at the station when it happened and tells Corus Radio, the train was just pulling in but appeared to still be going full-speed.

Two other occupants aboard the train were left unhurt.

“Given the amount of damage to the cab of the LRT in the driver compartment, she did require extrication however fortunately we did have good access at the scene”. “The driver is now under medication”.

Police initially said there were no reports of injuries, but Calgary Transit later tweeted that “all emergency services”, including ambulances, are responding to the scene.

“The operator should have got out, should have gone to the other end of the train then carried on back into downtown”, said Davies. “Now we’re trying to determine exactly what happened”, he added.

At this point there’s no word on what may have caused the derailment.
