Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that the entire “Samajwadi Pariwar” stands united and that the “Samajwadi Party” was not facing any problems.

Sunil Singh Sajan, Anand Bhadauria and Sanjay Lathar – all MLCs – were sacked for making “derogatory remarks” against party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, indulging in anti-party activities and indiscipline, according to a party statement.

The ongoing “clean-up” by Shivpal is being seen in the light of the fact that over the years, Akhilesh has been trying to break down old hierarchies represented by Mulayam, Shivpal and Amar Singh, whose re-entry was recently facilitated by the Mulayam-Shivpal duo.

“Netaji (Mulayam) will find a solution (to the current crisis) and everyone will accept it”, he said.

Earlier on September 13, Akhilesh stripped Shivpal of key ministerial portfolios, hours after Mulayam replaced him with his uncle as the party’s state unit chief.

Taking strong exception to the tough action, a number of youth office bearers of the party’s front wings spontaneously resigned, claiming that “Akhilesh” is their “undisputed” leader.

He further said the Chief Minister should have at least put his attention toward the development of the state.

The brief letter in Hindi signed by Mulayam on his Lok Sabha letter head was sent to media from state SP chief Shivpal Yadav’s official e-mail id.

High drama unfolded in the VVIP Guest House area where two youths of SP chatra sabha climbed atop a TV transmission tower to protest the mass sacking.

Samajwadi Party national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav+, who was instumental in dousing the fire within the party, said the leadership had committed an unintentional “mistake” by removing Akhilesh as party’s UP president.

A day earlier, Arvind Yadav, the MLC from Mainpuri and Ramgopal Yadav’s nephew, was removed from the party by Shivpal. In a show of strength last week, they had aggressive demonstrated outside the party headquarters demanding the UP chief minister be reinstated as the party’s state president.
