A parent also contacted the Flomaton Police Department to say her child had been sent threatening messages by the group.

A Facebook page entitled “Flomo Klowns” that featured scary clowns with blood and other gore prompted the lockdown at Flomaton High School, Flomaton Middle School and Flomaton Elementary (all located on the same campus), Huxford Elementary north of Atmore, Escambia County High School in Atmore and Escambia Academy in Atmore. The Escambia County School District then closed the school for a portion of the morning, only to lift the ban at 11.30am. The threatening message is said to have included gun emoji.

Deputies are now in the process of tracking down further leads, and asks that if anyone does see the “clowns”, they are to report it to the police.

The threat came from the now-deleted Facebook page of “Flomo Klown”.

The Facebook page was only recently updated and features a slew of gruesome clown pictures that appear to be posted over the past 24-hours.

The good clown name continues its tragic decline into ruination this week, with a mysterious Alabama group of so-called “Flomo Klowns” forcing two schools on total lockdown Thursday morning. One of their posts even read “It’s going down tonight”. Some media reports have even stated that clowns are luring children into the woods with the promise of candy, according to WKRG.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Lambert on Friday afternoon told FOX10 News there has been an arrest warrant signed for an adult in the case. “We take any threat especially a specific student seriously when it’s a threat of harm”, Knott told AL.com.

Sorry not-quite-as-creepy clowns, but it looks like the clown name may never fully recover. Flomaton explained that they treated the incident as a terrorist threat, even though the suspected perpetrators were, in fact, clowns.
