Watch Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong In His First Lead Comedy Role

BJ stars alongside SNL veteran Fred Armisen and actress Selma Blair (Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions) in the flick, the first trailer for which has just been released. The trailer features plenty of hotel destruction in between shots of Armstrong’s character pondering what it means to grow up.

Written and directed by Lee Kirk, Ordinary World is the story of Perry Miller (Armstrong), a former punk rock musician – his band has been on “indefinite hiatus” for 10 years – who has settled into suburban life, with a wife (Selma Blair) and daughter and a day job at his family’s hardware store.

In addition to starring in the film, Armstrong penned four original songs for the movie’s soundtrack.

Billie Joe Armstrong thought his life was completely normal during the height of his drug problems.

While the pressure of writing and recording three albums back-to-back intensified his problems with drink and drugs, Billie admits he was “unravelling” anyway.

Billie Joe ultimately reached a point at which he could no longer deny his need for treatment, so he set about seeking help from professionals capable of aiding him in getting clean. “So we were just going and going and going”, says Armstrong.

The band also made recent headlines when they released a new video for their single “Bang Bang”, which is taken off of the band’s upcoming new album Revolution Radio.
