Equipped with parachutes, four thrill-seekers were caught by police jumping off San Diego’s Coronado Bridge.

A San Diego police officer was driving on the bridge shortly before 10:30 p.m. when he saw a Dodge pickup come to a stop mid-span. The officer was on the bridge checking a report of a possible suicide attempt, officials said. Four men exited the vehicle and then proceeded to jump off the bridge, Lt. Wahl said.

The sailors were cited by Harbor police and turned over to the Navy.

Puzzled, the officer got out of his vehicle and witnessed the men deploy parachutes on their way down into the water.

“They were sorry they were caught, but that’s the risk you take when you have this kind of hobby”, said Harbor police Sgt. CHP handed the driver a ticket for stopping on the bridge.

As for the daredevils, the four Navy men are in hot water with the Naval Command as CHP handed over the investigation to them.

It’s not clear whether the men will be charged or cited for the leap. He said one of the jumpers claimed to be in the Navy.
