Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, bringing an end to what began as the world’s most tabloid headline-generating romance before morphing into a glamorous engine of family and philanthropy.
“She was extremely upset with his methods”, the site reported, adding that infidelity rumors didn’t factor into the decision. She is seeking sole custody of the couple’s six children, and is not asking for spousal support. Jolie’s petition lists the date of separation as September 15.
Pitt and Jolie, 41, issued separate statements. The pair started dating in 2004.
Brad was with Friends actress Jennifer Aniston at the time. He also asked for privacy for his children, “to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time”.
Pitt, who bought a home in New Orleans about a year after Hurricane Katrina struck and while filming “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, launched the Make it Right building project to help reconstruct the city’s most devastated area.
Pitt has spoken however to PEOPLE, saying his focus was on the “well-being of our kids”.

Before their August 2014 wedding at their French estate, Jolie and Pitt had said they would not Wednesday until same-sex couples were allowed to marry.
Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children and three biological children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, as well as Knox and Vivienne, who are twins. Jolie was fresh off a divorce from Billy Bob Thornton (and had previously been married to Jonny Lee Miller).

She chose to file for divorce because of the way Pitt was parenting the children, a source told the website.
