Malcolm Jenkins leads several Eagles in protest before Bears game

Instead, Wentz’s arm talent, his stature, his calm in the pocket and mobility outside it, in addition to an attacking Eagles ‘D, ‘ were all too big for the Bears to handle in Philadelphia’s 29-14 victory. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz (11) runs the ball against the Chicago Bears defense during the first half of an NFL football game, Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in Chicago.

“It was cool. It’s something”, Wentz said, “but at the same time for me it’s something I try and not make it bigger than it needs to be”. If Jay’s ready to do it, fine. Hoyer was signed this offseason as part of the win-now foundation of veterans, Hoyer representing a veteran fall-back if Cutler went down, rather than turn to a young pipeline prospect.

That apparently was a problem on his final throw when he was intercepted by Philadelphia’s Nigel Bradham with 36 seconds to play in the third quarter.

Chicago also lost outside linebacker Lamarr Houston to a potentially season-ending knee injury in the contest while inside linebacker Danny Trevathan injured a thumb that will require surgery. A source told the Times that this injury typically results in a three- to four-week absence.

Regardless of what you read below about Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, you have to tip your cap to North Dakota State product as he has his team 2-0 heading into his team’s Week 3 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He said Cutler will undergo rehab.

“We have all the confidence in the world that he can get the job done and he’s our leader and he takes charge of this team and he’s grabbed the team by the reigns and running with it so we’re just following him”, said Lane Johnson, Eagles offensive lineman.

“Not really [sure if he can play this week], we’ll just take it day to day”, Fox said.

That it happened on Monday night might have made it sting even more for star-crossed Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Through two games, Wentz has completed 60.6% of his passes for 438 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 94 passer rating. Cutler walked to the locker room and did not return.

But first, Cutler had to endure a dressing down on the sideline from injured teammate Pernell McPhee.

Should the Bears have pulled him earlier?

At the very least, Cutler will be out indefinitely considering Fox did not reveal a timeline on Tuesday. But just like Fox isn’t a doctor, I’m not a coach or a PR guy, so what do I know? “We’ll definitely keep you posted”.

The Bears (0-2) travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) next Sunday in week 3.

“It’s hard for me to give timelines”, Fox said. Bad as it was, the question now is how much the injuries incurred during the game will affect the rest of their season.
