Sources said that there could be four to five militants and the gunfight is still underway. The firing clearly violates the 2003 ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan along the global boundary and the Line of Control.

Salim’s remarks come in the aftermath of Sunday’s terror assault on an Indian army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, that’s made 18 soldiers dead, in Uri. A second infiltration bid in Nowgam was also foiled by the army – one terrorist was killed and soldier martyred in the encounter.

Just two days after deadly terror attack on an army installation in Uri, two encounters broke out between infiltrating militants and security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir on Tuesday. According to sources, NIA will collect the blood samples and fingerprints of the four terrorists killed in Uri.

Around eight terrorists had been killed till last count while others were engaged in an encounter. On Monday, the gunmen had targeted a police station in the area with rifle fire following which Army troops and members of the J&K police’s counterinsurgency Special Operations Group (SoG) moved in to start searches. “The area has been cordoned off and all escape routes have been sealed”, a source told Mirror.

The Indian Army has said it has recovered arms, ammunition and food and medicine packets with Pakistani markings during the combing operations at the military base in Uri. “We ask all those raising hue and cry over Uri attack, why they feel the blood of youth in Kashmir is cheap and why don’t they feel the pain and agonies of Kashmiris”. The Turkish President said that we are friends forever; Turkey and Pakistan are inseparable countries, the President stated.

The two sides exchanged views on regional situation in South Asia as well as the Middle East, particularly in Indian Occupied Kashmir, Syria and Iraq.

“PM urged the United States to play a role in the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute and highlighted human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir”, she said.

“The prime minister has come to the UN General Assembly with only one agenda, to highlight Indian atrocities and the indigenous and peaceful nature of the Kashmiri struggle”, Mr. Chaudhry said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, meanwhile, has called a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday in order to discuss the fallout of the Uri attack. “You don’t want any noise to distract the world leaders from the message you are going to deliver”.

The latest infiltration bid comes as New Delhi and Islamabad are locked in a bitter diplomatic war of words following the Uri terror attack, which India has blamed on militants from Pakistan.
