The Google Now name appears to be going away
But how can we tell?

Before you freakout at that title, understand that the idea of Google Now is very much still in the Google App, it’s just that Google doesn’t appear to want to refer to its services any longer as “Now”. Another study by app tracker SensorTower has also revealed an average 20 percent drop in downloads in the U.S. According to 9to5Google, the latest beta for Google’s Android search app refers to Google Now as “Feed” and refers Now on Tap as “Screen search”. The latest beta of the Google Now app seems to change the name of “Google Now on Tap” to just “Screen search”. Now obviously Google isn’t killing off the voice assistant platform.
Newly released functionality in the mobile app centers around features that will dramatically improve a lawyer’s life while in and out of the office. And the Assistant is expected to form the core of Google’s forthcoming Home, standalone speaker-and-microphone hardware that will fling YouTube videos to a nearby Chromecast, set timers and alarms, track your flight information, keep tabs on your appointments, provide weather and traffic info, and more on verbal command.
Google’s Play Store offers over 2 million apps to Android users. Since there’s such a wide variety of apps supported by the feature, users also have the the option of turning on or off In Apps search for certain applications. First introduced with the LG V20, this nifty little icon will open a Google search that only looks through your apps.

Another surprise? TripAdvisor. A fresh face, this app’s inclusion in the top 50 could be thanks to how the travel website pushes users to download and switch to the app when you browse on your mobile devices. Of course, these changes won’t meet the pleasure of every tester, so what’s your opinion? If you have Google Now, Now on Tap, assistant, Pixel Launchers, and who knows how many other brands within brands or software names within software names, it’s tough to really focus on the big picture, which is Google.
