In a fresh sign of defiance, Kim oversaw a ground test of a new rocket engine and ordered a satellite launch preparation, North Korean state media said Tuesday, an indication the country might soon conduct a prohibited long-range rocket launch – possibly to coincide with the 71st founding anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party which falls October 10. U.S. prosecutors have also pointed that there is enough evidence that would pin Ma for her involvement in North Korea’s nuclear program and assistance regarding Kim Jong Un’s continuous evasion from the United Nations sactions.
In March 2016, the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2270, which imposes the toughest sanctions against North Korea so far.
“Kim Jong Un visited the Sohae Space Center and guided the ground jet test of a new type high-power engine of a carrier rocket for the geo-stationary satellite”, North Korea’s KRT news reader said.
“In the old sanctions, countries could search North Korea’s cargo ships and aircraft and detain crew members and ships once they spot the embargoed materials, but overland transportation to North Korea was not included in the sanctions”. North Korea doesn’t need technology or resource support from outside to conduct its nuclear program.
A day after that flyover, North Korea accused the United States of “bluffing” and “blustering” with the flyover and said such actions were inflaming tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Yun said the case of Iran showed that sanctions take time to have an impact.
Both the US and South Korea have agreed to counter Pyongyang’s missile tests with the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system despite China’s position regarding the system.
It remains unclear how long the long-range supersonic bombers will stay in South Korea this time, Yonhap said.
Unfortunately, North Korea is unwilling to negotiate on this at present, Zhang said.
How many days the U.S. supersonic bomber will stay in South Korea is unknown. So further sanctions will focus on this problem, Zhang said.
