According to mayor Chris Bollwage by way of ABC News, the two men spotted the backpack in a trash can at 8:47 p.m. and removed it, thinking that there might have been something valuable inside.

An interesting side story to the New York/New Jersey bombings involves two men who may be the luckiest guys walking around alive in New Jersey today.

Police had already been investigating a Manhattan bombing, a Minnesota mass stabbing and a New Jersey pipe bomb blast. The United States has seen a series of large-scale attacks, including mass shootings in Orlando, Florida, and San Bernardino, California, over the past year.

Whether the suspect has any connections with foreign terrorist groups.

CBS New York reported that “two scavengers found the package while going through the trash”. Those five men are believed to be from the same family and were taken to the Federal Bureau of Investigation building in Manhattan for questioning. The officer was wearing a bullet proof-vest, said Linden Police Captain James Sarnicki. “They set it down where their muscles gave out, beside an S.U.V. under the New Jersey Transit overpass on Broad Street at the station downtown”.

The incident followed an explosion Saturday in New York’s Chelsea district that injured 29 people and the discovery of a second device nearby. Following the explosion, an investigation found four more unexploded devices along the route.

No one was injured in the unintended blast. The Associated Press reported that two men saw wires and a pipe coming out of a package.

CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said: “American Muslims, like all Americans reject extremism and violence, and seek a safe and secure nation”.

The incident in Elizabeth Monday morning came in the wake of a series of bombings in the NY tri-state area.

Earlier Saturday, a pipe bomb blew up in Seaside Park, New Jersey, before a charity race to benefit Marines.
