“A person approached the embassy with a knife”.
According to initial reports, a man wielding a knife was fatally shot at and wounded by security officials deployed outside Israel’s embassy in the Turkish capital.
A security guard outside of the Israeli Embassy in Ankara shot a suspicious man who was apparently trying to stab people near the entrance of the building today (Wednesday). The assailant was shot in his leg and sustained minor injuries.
“Everyone on our side is safe”, foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said in a statement. “We don’t know if he was attacking police officers or the embassy itself”. Early reports indicate one person is dead following an attack on the Israeli embassy. Employees of the embassy took refuge in a shelter, it added.
