When Jacksonville State (1-0) takes the field against LSU (0-1) on Saturday in Death Valley, a season and legacy are on the line for the Tigers and head coach Les Miles.

As LSU’s offense established control, Etling’s more realistic threat of hurting the defense with the pass loosened up Jacksonville State’s defense for the Tigers’ running game.
LSU’s Tre’Davious White returned a punt for a 60-yard touchdown.
To say the SEC had a rough weekend would be an understatement, and to say the same about LSU could be the understatement of the college football season.
Wisconsin: Houston. The senior had his moments against LSU but also threw two costly interceptions. Akron’s starting quarterback junior Tommy Woodson threw for 407 yards and six touchdowns, and junior wide receiver Jerome Lane caught 10 receptions for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
LSU quarterback Brandon Harris is pretty much, if this helps bring it home, the Tigers’ version of Auburn’s Jeremy Johnson. Alabama, by comparison, gets 9.57 yards every time it throws the ball. Jenkins is easily on pace to eclipse the 10,000-yard mark in career total yards by the end of this season. Well, he added to that tally with a sack on Saturday night.
Central Michigan (1-0) at Oklahoma State (1-0), Noon, FSI – Not calling for an upset, but if Cooper Rush is at the head of the quarterback class in the MAC this season, it will show up here. The Tigers didn’t need him to take care of Jacksonville State, but they may need a strong performance against Mississippi State, who is coming off of a win over SC. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2. A large chunk of that came on a 76-yard bomb to Krenwick Sanders when cornerback Donte Jackson and safety Jamal Adams both took bad angles after a short catch.

LSU’s primary reserve running backs include Derrius Guice, Darrel Williams and Nick Brossette.
JSU’s Desmond Owino blocked Colby Delahoussaye’s PAT attempt, and LSU held a 6-3 lead with 12:21 remaining in the second period. That game was a bit of a struggle until the fourth quarter, where the Zips posted three touchdowns after leading 26-24 heading into the final stanza. The drive, highlighted by a 44-yard run from Guice, covered 64 yards in five plays.
Between his true freshman, and true sophomore seasons, Etling played in 13 games, completing 55.5% of his passes for 2,490 yards with 16 TD’s and 12 INT’s.
He obviously liked what he saw in Guice, who previous year rushed for 436 yards and averaged 8.5 yards per attempt in making the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team.
For this offense to function properly, LSU needs good blocking up front – which has also been a problem thus far – and it needs a quarterback capable of making good decisions, playing with poise and accurately completing a few passes downfield to prevent defenses from focusing all of their energy on stopping Fournette. Tiger Nation is growing restless with the abysmal quarterback play from Harris.

The Tigers churned out 219 yards on 19 snaps and produced three touchdowns to erase a 3-0 deficit. Fortunately, the injury only required a couple days of rest and he was able to suit up at Lambeau Field.
