“We believe that we are able to play a role in increasing awareness about air pollution by including AQI data into our MIUI Weather app, and by introducing Mi Air Purifier 2 to India”.

The Mi Air Purifier 2 has 360° triple-layer filter which removes harmful PM2.5 articles, dust, indoor plant pollen, pet fur and more. They have a variety of different offerings like the Air Purifiers, Rice cookers, etc. This has also led to rise in demand for air purifiers in the country. According to sources, the air purifier has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) performance of 310m3 per hour, which is higher than other competing products available in the market.

The Mi Air Purifier 2 is extremely power efficient and consumes just 4.8 W of electricity, which is further reduced in the energy saving modes. If you are unaware, PM 2.5 is the most risky air pollutant stuff which is mainly linked to various breathing diseases such as lung cancer. The replacement filter is priced at Rs 2,499. The purifier also includes a Wi-Fi module that can be synced with your smartphone. It not only allows you to control the air purifier remotely but also check the quality of air in the room at any given time. The company claims it has a 20-day battery life with moderate usage. The screen wakes up as you lift your wrist. The Mi Band 2 has an OLED display, and can tracks steps and sleep for a user. The purifier connects to the cloud via Wi-Fi and can be managed by the Mi Home app which is available on Android and iOS. The band will alert you if you are sitting for too long.

The Mi Air Purifier 2 has been comparatively easier for the company to bring to India, as opposed to its other smart home products, which is why it became the first choice in the category to foray into India. Interestingly, the date coincides with the start of Flipkart Big Billion Days 2016.

Meanwhile, the Mi Band 2 will be available for sale on September 27 at 12 PM on Mi.com at Rs. 1999.
