The French champions controlled most of the early play.

In the closing stages, the substitute Olivier Giroud was sent off for a second yellow card for a bit of shoving off the ball with Marquinhos that spilled over inexplicably into Marco Verratti also getting a second yellow card from the Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai.

Alexis Sanchez’s 78th minute strike secured a draw for Arsene Wenger’s side but Arsenal are yet to convince.

Arsene Wenger has hinted that goalkeeper David Ospina will keep his Arsenal place for the remainder of the Champions League ties.

Iwobi came close to winning it for Arsenal in the 83rd but Areola stretched to his left to tip the ball away to save new coach Unai Emery’s blushes on his PSG Champions League debut.

The former England global – and a four-time league champion with the Gunners – hit out after Arsenal’s 1-1 Champions League draw with PSG on Tuesday.

However, at the end of it all, Ospina put to rest the ghost of last season and after a shaky start, which saw him concede in the first minute, put in a heroic display to help his side earn a draw.

PSG came close to extending its lead in the 13th minute but Ospina tipped a direct corner from Di Maria over the bar, while Arsenal had to wait until the 23rd before creating its first decent chance following a good move from Nacho Monreal down the left.

“Both teams tried to play nice football tonight and it was a good game”, the France worldwide said.

Cavani missed another chance just before the break as he gathered an Angel Di Maria pass behind the Arsenal back line only to lose his footing. “Once you have optimism, that’s when you start to score goals”.

David Ospina did play very well. David Ospina made some fine saves on the day, bailing his team out a few times, but Arsenal’s overall defensive organization was nonexistent.

Wenger hinted that Ospina could be elevated to No. 1 keeper during the Champions League campaign.

“I take it as it comes and I try to do the best I can. Today he set the record straight”. Marquinhos then missed a chance to win it when he headed wide at the back post in the 95th minute.
