Monday night no longer sure thing for star-crossed QB Cutler
On the night, rookie quarterback Carson Wentz continued to impress with his range of passing and poise under pressure while Jay Cutler continued to madden fans with his unique blend of incredible arm talent and equally incredible inconsistency. They haven’t made the playoffs in either of those years, actually going 2-12 the rest of the way in 2014. They were held to 21 yards on 10 carries in the first half and averaged just 3.1 yards per attempt for the game.

EAGLES are only two games into the Carson Wentz era, but the rookie has now led his team to a pair of wins after an easy 29-14 victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday. Last night against the Chicago Bears, he was able to complete short throw after short throw to give them an offense early in the game.
To be fair, Wentz did look good, especially in the second quarter when he stood in the pocket and took an absolutely crushing blow while floating a 19-yard pass that was negated by a penalty.
If the environment wasn’t enough to convince the Philadelphia Eagles to turn to the ground, consider the team was also playing without injured security-blanket tight end Zach Ertz, and that their receiving corps is still a mangled group of young players with plenty of potential but sparse past production.
R.I.P. Chicago Bears 2016 season.
Cutler’s setback wasn’t the only significant injury for the Bears, who dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
With that in mind, here are some takeaways from the game.
Even when the Eagles wanted to turn back to the running game, though, it wasn’t a smooth transition.
The No. 10 ranking is a little too high in my opinion, as the Giants defeated their two opponents by four combined points.
“He took care of the football and made some nice, tough throws”, Philadelphia Coach Doug Pederson said. “It just shows his maturity and the ability that he has to play quarterback”.
Trailing 9-7 coming out of halftime, the Bears had the ball on first down at the Eagles’ 43-yard line and were driving to take the lead when Cutler was strip-sacked.
It felt like the most disastrous loss for this team since Marc Trestman was head coach, as Cutler, Eddie Goldman, Adrian Amos, Bryce Callahan, Danny Trevathan and Harold Jones-Quartey all left the game with injuries. That play just aggravated it.
Before Cutler left the field, television cameras caught him in a brief confrontation with injured outside linebacker Pernell McPhee on the sideline. The two had words after a pass got picked off by Philadelphia’s Nigel Bradham. He was wincing and was holding his thumb as he walked to the locker room.
The Bears are being hurt offensively by the lack of a running game, whether it’s because of poor blocking with a line that has just come together or a lack of execution. Big Ben did have a superior 61.7 completion percentage but had managed only 337 yards with two touchdowns, one pick and an 88.7 rating.
“I couldn’t get as much on it as I wanted to, to put it over the top of that ‘backer”, Cutler said of the interception. “That falls on me”. He understands. It’s something that we just got to continue to keep talking.
Roethlisberger certainly shouldn’t feel so bad about his 2008 performance in Philadelphia as former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw lost his one and only start in that city during his long career.
With eight National Football League teams heading into Week 3 with a 2-0 record, there’s also eight teams who are now winless at the moment-which means there’s plenty of pressure heading into next weekend.

The Bears had possession for only one play.
