Former Republican candidate Jeb Bush made an appearance in Kimmel’s opening comedy skit and Hillary Clinton tweeted congratulations to her impersonator Kate McKinnon, of Saturday Night Live, who won best supporting actress in a comedy.

“Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her fifth straight Emmy for her role in the satirical White House comedy in which she plays a graspingly ambitious and inept president battling to stay in power.

The full list of winners is below.

Dame Maggie Smith won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Downton Abbey.

“Transparent” was a powerhouse at the Emmys, taking home Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series; however, the most talked-about moments surrounding these awards were the acceptance speeches made by both director Jill Soloway and actor Jeffrey Tambor. As became her custom, she didn’t attend the ceremony.

The Nielsen company said Monday that the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted awards show had the smallest audience for any Emmy Awards since records have been kept. “Right in the garbage”.

That of course isn’t to say that Maggie Smith didn’t deserve the award.

In another revision, this one implemented previous year, voting was expanded from blue-ribbon panels to – depending on the award – giving substantially more or all of the academy’s 20,000-plus members the chance to vote for finalists.

“If your show doesn’t have a dragon or a white Bronco in it, go home right now”, host Jimmy Kimmel joked at the start of the three-hour broadcast, a reference to “Thrones” and the vehicle Simpson was in when he went on a wild ride through LA before his arrest. But reply she did.

Veteran shows dominated the awards at this year’s Emmys, which were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, with HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “Veep” winning best drama and best comedy, respectively, for the second straight year.

Holding Smith’s trophy, Kimmel said it would not be mailed to the 81-year-old actress. “If Mr. Kimmel could please direct me to the lost and found office I will try and be on the next flight”. Even Jimmy Kimmel’s mom was watching the Jon Benet Ramsey special on CBS between breaks.
