Switching then to Xhaka, Wenger admits that he was not aware the 23-year-old had such long-range goal scoring abilities.
Striker Lucas Perez and midfielder Granit Xhaka could also start. Overall, I felt that technically we played well.
“But I hope that will give him the taste for more”. A hungry Bendtner can score goals against anybody.
Having scored a thunderbolt for his first Arsenal goal on Saturday, Swiss worldwide Xhaka’s stunning 30-yard strike gave hide side the lead on 23 minutes.
Arsenal have won their last three matches against Nottingham Forest, beating them in the Premier League in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scores their fourth goal.
“He has shown what I expected from him”, the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
Asked about Bendtner’s display, Reds boss Philippe Montanier said: “Like the team he started very well at the beginning and then after it was very hard for him because Arsenal had the ball and he did not have a lot of opportunity to play”. It was only his second start since joining from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer after making his debut against Southampton in the Premier League.
“He did well. He’s quick, he’s determined”. He doesn’t use his right enough. “He is like the other left-footed players”.
“Giroud is still not available”, Wenger said. Would you go with Lucas after his cup heroics?
The City Ground paid homage to Forest legend Clough with a round of applause in the 12th minute, with Arsenal mustering their first chance a moment later, Vladimir Stojkovic saving well from Akpom’s strike. “Then you have to leave the key to someone else who has the potential to find it. Nicklas could explain much better than I can about his career”. “That’s what we’ll try to do”. He added: “Trust me, it will happen”.
Here is the kick-off time, TV information and more ahead of the big game. “We’ll put the effort in to try to do it”.
Wenger was also full of praise for Oxlade-Chamberlain, saying: “He’s in good form at the moment, physically”.
