A teenage girl who apparently tried to stop her friend from being kidnapped outside a school in Long Island, New York, was beaten to death, and a second body has been found amid the search for the abducted girl, authorities said Wednesday.

Police say 15-year-old Nisa Mickens was found dead from an apparent beating near an elementary school in Brentwood Tuesday night.
Police reportedly found at least 10 injuries consistent with Mickens being beaten to death and possibly struck by a auto.
On Wednesday, which would have been Mickens’ 16th birthday, her parents left her birthday gifts, as well as balloons, where her body was found. “This an act of savagery in our community and we need to work together to bring the perpetrators to justice”.
“These murders show a level of brutality that is close to unmatched”, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini said.
Mickens’ mother Elizabeth Aldorado described the teen as “resilient” and selfless.
The money is guaranteed to be paid within 48 hours for the first tip that leads to the apprehension of the person or people responsible for the deaths of Nisa Mickens, 15, and Kayla Cuevas, 16.
A growing memorial marks the spot where a passing motorist discovered Mickens’ body Tuesday night.
“My daughter was a very caring girl, affected a lot of lives that I didn’t even know”, he said.
The badly beaten and cut bodies of both girls were discovered in their suburban neighborhood early this week.

The reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect (s) in the brutal murders of two Brentwood teens has double to $10,000, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers announced Friday. “She hugged me twice and I’m not thinking anything of it”. Police believe the young women were victims of gang violence.
