Midfielder Alli extends contract with Spurs to 2022

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was surprised his club only capitalized once on their chances against Sunderland.

Kane was one of three Tottenham players to depart due to injury, after Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele had already gone off with cramp in their hamstrings.

He made his debut just over a year ago against Sunderland, and added: “I remember that game at Sunderland, I didn’t expect to play as quickly as I did and make an impact in the team”, said Dele.

“But in football you don’t have time because the new season is starting and you need to be ready to help your team and ready to compete”.

The Lilywhites host Gillingham in the League Cup third round mid-week before next weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

In the second half, Son hit the side netting and rolled another effort across the goal before Kane, who scored his first league goal of the season at Stoke City last week, struck by pouncing on Djilobodji’s mistake after Dele Alli’s knockdown.

“Did the criticism hurt?”

We reckon the midfielder would make a pretty good film star, you just know he’d be really nice to fans.

Speaking ahead of the game, Pochettino likened him to the Barcelona star and admits he has the potential to develop into a great player. In the changing room after the game, it was a bit sad and we were very disappointed. “Personally, I can’t think of anywhere better, with the fans, the manager we’ve got here and the young team – it’s a great place to be”.

“Everyone’s getting together; we’ve got some new faces and some injured lads coming back”.

“Tottenham are a top-quality side, that is why they finished where they did last season. We could have been stronger in parts but we did OK”.
