Monday morning, authorities announced a suspect in the Chelsea and Seaside Park bombings: Ahmad Khan Rahami.

Three attacks carried out in the United States on a single day – a NY bombing, a Minnesota mass stabbing and a New Jersey pipe bomb blast – were under investigation Sunday for potential terror links. Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said Rahami was discovered that morning sleeping in the doorway of a bar.

“He could be armed and unsafe”, de Blasio said, warning that residents should be vigilant and report sightings to authorities.

The incident took place less than 15 miles southwest of Manhattan.

Authorities have warned there could be more explosions in the coming days. “We need to get this guy right away”.

Authorities converged on the apartment just before 6 a.m.

There was no immediate word on whether the devices were similar to those in nearby Seaside Park or New York City. It went citywide May 2009 as a means to communicate localized emergency information quickly to city residents. Police arrested Rahami after a shootout in Linden, New Jersey shortly before noon Monday. “Since its inception, Notify NYC has sent out thousands of notifications about local emergencies”.

A suspicious device found in a trash can near a New Jersey train station exploded early Monday as a bomb squad was attempting to disarm it with a robot, officials said.

Late Sunday night, five explosive devices were discovered in a trash can at an Elizabeth train station.

Media at the scene reported hearing a loud explosion and smelling gunpowder at around 12:40 a.m. Monday after Bollwage said earlier that the Union County bomb squad’s robotic device indicated that the package could’ve been a live bomb. No injuries were reported. Amtrak trains heading to NY were held in Trenton early Monday.

“Our customers are safe and trains have been brought into stations to allow passengers to disembark and seek alternate transportation”. They were stopped in a vehicle while traveling in Brooklyn, reportedly on their way to an airport, law enforcement officials said.

No one was hurt, but Mr. Bollwage said: “I can imagine that if all five of them went off at the same time, that the loss of life could have been enormous if there was an event going on”.

Stepped-up security across the city is common as world leaders arrive for the United Nations General Assembly meeting, which is underway.

Later that day a knife-wielding man injured eight people at a shopping mall in Minnesota, before he was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer. The FBI was leading the investigation and working to disarm the other four devices. In that instance the device was placed in a garbage can.

There were no reports of injuries.
