Sharif to ‘highlight’ Kashmir issue at UNGA speech

The Prime Minister who would lead Pakistan delegation to the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in NY from September 19, would speak on Pakistan’s position, role and contribution on key worldwide issues ranging from peace and security to development, and highlight the vision and priorities of his government.
He said the atrocities in India Occupied Kashmir (IOK) by security forces against innocent Kashmiris had touched extremes.
“Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to Kashmiris”, he said.
“Oppression is destined to end, and truth will prevail”, he said in reference to the ongoing violence in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, at the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) in a right of reply, again questioned India’s “unabated atrocities” in Kashmir and urged the worldwide community to come to the aid of Kashmiris facing “massive human rights violations”.
“Vowing to continue the war against militancy and terrorism (till elimination of the last terrorist), the prime minister expressed his satisfaction over the security situation in the country”, PM House said in a statement after Raheel called on Sharif. “Pakistan will raise voice for the resolution of Kashmir dispute at all fora”.
The Hurriyat leaders thanked the Prime Minister for taking them into confidence before embarking upon his United States visit.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Barjees Tahir and Special Assistants to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and Dr. Asif Kirmani accompanied the Prime Minister.

“The prime minister wants to take the Kashmiri leadership into confidence over the content of his speech to be delivered at the UN General Assembly session on September 21”, the DawnNews quoted him as saying.
