Former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu today announced that he will not float a party to contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly election, as he does not wish to play “spoilsport” by dividing anti-incumbency votes.
Sidhu, who’s been annoyed with the BJP for a while now, had resigned from the Rajya Sabha in July. “May Punjab, Punjabiat and every Punjabi win”, Sidhu said. He also stated that his fight is against the system that has ruined Punjab and people with selfish interests.
“We will do everything to defeat the ruling alliance to ensure that Punjab gets back on the track”, Pargat Singh said. Politics is not a profession but a mission for him, he declared, and added, “There is no personal or political vendetta, just a burning desire to place Punjab ahead of us and reinforce the positive forces”.
His wife, Navjot Kaur revealed about it to a popular news channel saying, “Sidhu will now completely focus on Punjab politics”.
She did not rule out any alliance with the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party, with which the Sidhus were in talks to join.
This was a reference to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Congress leader Amarinder Singh.
Sidhu, who had promised a firm announcement regarding his new platform’s political plans in 15 days time at the time of the launch of Awaaz-e-Punjab on September 8 in Chandigarh, on Wednesday said that he has arrived at the decision after pondering over the fluid political situation in Punjab and weighing the pros and cons.

Preeti Simoes, the creative producer of The Kapil Sharma Show, however, had refuted the rumours of Sidhu’s exit from the comedy series.
