Vodafone launches Flex, a single recharge option for prepaid users
Asked if Reliance Jio’s entry in the 4G market is putting competitive pressure on the company and whether it would bring innovative plans or reduce voice tariffs, Kataria said that tariffs can not be a long-term differentiator in the market. While outgoing calls (local and STD) might require more than 1 Flex unit.

Siddharth Banerjee, National Head, Brand Communication and Insights, Vodafone India, said, “Vodafone Flex is a path-breaking product since it guarantees making consumers life simpler while assuring them of great value for money”.
Kataria said this plan was only for pre-paid subscribers, and would not apply to post-paid consumers.
The new service, Vodafone Flex, will work as a “new currency” allowing customers to purchase combined units of bundled, voice, data and roaming units, avoiding multiple recharges and multiple SIMS – a common hassle for India’s prepaid mobile customers, said Kataria. Vodafone FLEX can be enabled with a single recharge. Our mobile wallet, M-Pesa is a unique and innovative money transfer service from Vodafone that fosters financial inclusion.
Vodafone India is a 100% fully owned subsidiary of the Vodafone Group Plc. with operations across the country serving ~198 million customers (over 107 million in rural areas). With Vodafone FLEX, we aim to revolutionaise the pre-paid world by addressing the needs of the customers.
Each of the packs come with a fixed amount of “Flexs” which will deducted when a customer uses voice or data or messages. Now, 1 Flex equals 1MB of data (4G/ 3G/ 2G) or 1 SMS or 1 minute of an incoming call on roaming.
Vodafone FLEX plans start at Rs 117 which offers 135 minutes and 55MB of data.
Vodafone FLEX charges will be deducted from user’s balance as per use.
