“There’s every era of country music in this song and in the video”, I’m just trying not to be giddy the whole time.
Joining Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson are a host of stars, each one a CMA victor, including Brett Eldredge, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood. The song is a medley of three legendary country songs: John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads”; Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”; and Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again”. Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley remarks that it’s a flawless representation of country music right now.
The video – which premiered during Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night (Sept. 20) – features appearances by all 30 of the song’s singers. As the above video shows, the stars assembled at a green screen studio to perform their parts of the song, and the final product, Kahn explains, features scenes that span around the world but always come back to Nashville and country scenery.
Huge names taking part in the music video include; Kieth Urban, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, and many, many more.
CMA Award-winning songwriter Shane McAnally produced “Forever Country” and calls crafting the mashup “a very scary process”. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the 50th annual CMA Awards from Nashville on November 2 on ABC-TV.
