Ex-president George H.W. Bush will vote for Clinton, reports say

Ms. Townsend (65), a former Lieutenant-Governor of Maryland, posted a picture of her shaking Mr. “He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim”, Jim McGrath told NBC News. It’s a question that has consumed the political world for the past 24 hours, raising the specter of a remarkable rejection of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Kennedy Townsend, a niece of President John F. Kennedy, posted along with a photo of her and the 41st president, according to CNN.

But sources with knowledge of the conversation told CNN they were surprised and disappointed that she had publicly shared a private conversation with the former president.

And Jeb Bush, Trump’s former primary rival, has said he won’t vote for Trump or Clinton.

Townsend later told Politico she met with Bush, 92, in ME on Monday, where he told her about his preference in this year’s ballot.

While his reelection bid was rebuked by Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign, George H.W. Bush and the former Democratic president have since become close friends.

Many former GOP officials from both Bush administrations have also announced their support for Clinton over Trump, including national security adviser Brent Scowcroft and former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez.

“That’s what he said”, Townsend said in a phone interview with Politico about her social media post.

“The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!”
