Tebow begins move from football to baseball
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.

Less than a month after the New York Mets announced they signed Tim Tebow to a minor league contract, Tim Tebow jersey on the Mets online shop for $99.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said earlier this month that signing Tebow was not simply a jersey-selling tactic.
More than 67 media outlets were credentialed for the start of workouts. No helicopter hovered overhead.
Life is evolving off the field as well.
“I’m still listening to coaches and trying to develop”, Tebow said. He said he needed supplies, specifically drinks and almonds. “He’s a hard worker”.
He said if the Patriots who are without Tom Brady for two more games and now have Jimmy Garoppolo dealing with an injury or any other football team came calling, now they’d get a quick answer.
Tebow downplayed a suggestion that the smaller crowd on Tuesday – quieter, calmer, completely opposite from the madhouse that awaited him the first day – helped him maintain his focus.
Giambi, who played 20 seasons and hit 440 career home runs (209 with the Yankees from ’02-’08), is 6-foot-3 and was listed at 240 pounds during his playing days, similar to Tebow, who’s 6-foot-2 and weighs 235 by most accounts. His swing is pretty good. Finding everything that you need. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
Citi Field is where the Mets could really cash in.
If that muscular frame restricts Tebow’s mobility or affects his ability to turn on inside fastballs, he hasn’t noticed. Lopez went to the University of Florida at the same time Tebow was in college and said he ran into him often while on campus. “It wouldn’t be that hard for me to even be heavier”.
“I felt like such a kid”.
Tebow signed a deal with the Mets that included a $100,000 signing bonus. He talks routinely about his fondness for the craft of hitting and the sense of exhilaration he gets from swinging a bat. No, the only of the 58 players getting a spotlight in this camp with the Mets is Tim Tebow, the quarterback-turned-baseball-hopeful whose No. 15 jersey is already a hot seller even though he has yet to take one professional at-bat.
Growing up in suburban Jacksonville, Florida, Tebow was a fan of Gary Sheffield, Ken Griffey Jr., Frank Thomas, Chipper Jones and Jeff Bagwell. That’s a major undertaking at age 29.
“A lot of people would say, ‘Well, it puts a chip on your shoulder, ‘” Tebow said. “You look at each of these guys, and they do something fantastic, and you can learn from that one thing”. He is talking to any and all coaches, trying to soak in knowledge.
In the meantime, Tebow just wants to be a ballplayer during the week, and an analyst during the weekend, while pursuing the dream no one is giving him a chance to achieve. He hit three balls off the outfield fence. “The goal is definitely to play in the bigs”. For what it’s worth, he seems to be making a positive early impression on his fellow Instructional Leaguers.

And so the Tim Tebow Era in NY begins.
