The Vallejo Fire Department and PG&E are investigating the odor reports throughout Vallejo as a shelter-in-place order was given to Southern Vallejo beginning at approximately 8 p.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard investigated the odor and a sheen was reportedly visible on the water by helicopter and boat.
A shelter-in-place order for a northern California community has been lifted Wednesday after local authorities determined a strong odor was not coming from within the city.
Residents reported difficulty breathing because of the strong odor, with many flocking to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center to seek medical assistance, KPIX-TV reported.
Later, other ferry vessels and crew members from Coast Guard Station Vallejo reported seeing a sheen on the water.
San Francisco Bay Ferry officials issued an alert at 7:10 a.m. today saying they are assessing a possible oil spill in San Pablo Bay that is affecting the route between Vallejo and San Francisco.
Coast Guard and California Department of Fish and Wildlife pollution investigators were sent to find the oil sheen but didn’t locate it overnight. “Called the police, and they told me to evacuate the city or go into shelter”.
Pacific Gas & Electric said a team was working with public safety officials in Vallejo to determine the origins of the odor.

The Fire Department says gas monitors are registering safe levels, but it has asked residents to close windows and turn off air conditioning units.
