Fabregas has been on the fringes of new manager Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side since the start of the season, having made just three league appearances from the bench.

However, with a date with his former club coming up this weekend, it remains to be seen whether or not his performance at Leicester is enough to see him promoted to the starting XI and stake his claim for a bigger role in the weeks and months ahead.

“All my team-mates deserve my respect, my coach deserves respect because I know he wants to win and if he doesn’t play me, there is always a reason”. I am in a moment of my career where I feel very mature.

“This is what they did and we paid for it, but we showed the great character I think we’ve been showing all season”.

Chelsea travel to Arsenal on Saturday in the Premier League.

“Cesc is Chelsea’s player, I am happy about him, for his attitude and his behaviour during training sessions”, the ex-Juventus boss said.

“I want to show if someone deserves, he plays”. I know when I have to press and I choose much better my game overall.

However, Chelsea fought back as Gary Cahill pulled one back after the break for the visitors.

“This is a typical English game because after 30 minutes you are 2-0 down and then you have a good reaction to score four goals”.

Shinji Okazaki celebrates scoring his first of two goals.

“This is very important because it showed the will to win and to go into the next round”.

In the other League Cup action, record eight-times winners Liverpool eased past Derby County 3-0.

“I think the key was when we conceded a goal from the last corner of the first half”, he said, via the club’s website.
