Terence Crutcher’s attorneys present new evidence
Dashcam and helicopter video released of the shooting shows Crutcher walking back to his vehicle with his hands in the air. Each was a black man fatally shot by an officer, with the aftermath captured on video. While according to the New York Daily News, Betty Shelby’s dash cam was never activated because she never turned on her tops lights or sirens, aerial footage and other dash cam video of the shooting has caused the U.S. Department of Justice to open an investigation into the incident for possible civil rights violations.

He assured people that justice will be achieved.
“She had the opportunity to assess the situation, she should’ve been trained in this area to understand what was going on”, he added.
Crutcher’s twin sister, Tiffany, said her brother was a church-going man who had enrolled at Tulsa Community College to better his life. The four officers surround him, making it harder to see his actions from the police dashboard camera’s angle. The issue of whether Shelby had a stun gun on her at the time would be relevant, too.
Let’s join them and make sure this officer is held accountable. Crutcher was on the side of the road, away from his vehicle. He falls to the ground shortly thereafter.
“We see very clearly on the video that Terence never made a sudden movement towards the officers. when he was shot, the officers were not in any imminent harm”, he said.
“And he looked like a really good man and maybe I’m a little clouded because I saw his family talking about him after the fact, so you get a little bit different image maybe”. That big bad dude loved God. “Could be on something”. Video captures him walking towards his auto with his hands in the air.
“Shots fired!” a clearly distressed female cop yells over the radio. The graphic video, released by police this week, shows Crutcher walking toward his SUV with his hands up and his back to multiple officers.
“Him having his hands up, walking toward his auto, he was walking away from the officers”.
The videos show Shelby and several other officers at the scene. One officer appears to check Crutcher’s pockets first.
Later, on Tuesday, a police officer in Charlotte, North Carolina, shot and killed 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott. She claimed he had a Taser used on him and was then shot four times.
On Monday, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said his office will review police reports and evidence from Crutcher’s shooting to determine whether charges should be filed against Tulsa officer Betty Shelby. In addition to the videos, the Tulsa Police Department also released audio from 911 calls placed by observers. Police say Shelby fatally shot 40-year-old Terence Crutcher on Friday while responding to a report of a stalled vehicle. But if county prosecutors choose not to charge Shelby and if federal authorities believe that was the wrong call, US prosecutors could step in and pursue charges months or even years from now, Cramer said. Crutcher was unarmed, and police found no weapon in his vehicle, Jordan said.
“He has his hands up and is facing the vehicle and looks at Shelby, and his left hand goes through the auto window, and that’s when she fired her shot”, Wood told the Tulsa World for a story published Tuesday.
The attorney for Officer Betty Shelby said his client feared Crutcher was reaching for a weapon but an attorney for the Crutcher family said that argument is not plausible since Crutcher’s window was closed, according to CNN. She said in a phone interview Tuesday that Shelby “thought she had to protect her own life” when she shot Crutcher.
Shelby “cleared” the right side of Crutcher’s vehicle, and when she started toward the other side to check it, Crutcher approached her. Then nearly immediately, someone can be heard yelling, “Shots fired!” and Crutcher is left lying in the street.
On Tuesday, the Tulsa police declined to comment on whether Crutcher had been reaching inside the vehicle.
Organizers urged participants to remain peaceful, and the protesters dispersed before nightfall without any incidents.
Once again, many questions are being raised about the use of deadly force and the role of race in policing.

When reporters asked the TPD why it took so long for police to give Crutcher any help, the TPD’s public information officer, Jeanne MacKenzie, claimed that the delay occurred because the police officers didn’t know what to do. The pilot was recorded saying that the 40-year-old, who was walking slowly back to his auto with his hands up at that moment, looked like “a bad dude” who “could be on something”. “That big “bad dude” was a son”, she said. All of that must be determined, no matter how badly injured the wounded person might appear.
