“Museum Day Live! unites a spectacular array of museums across the country around Smithsonian’s commitment to make knowledge accessible to everyone”, says Stephen Giannetti, Chief Revenue Officer of Smithsonian Enterprises.

“Twelve years ago, only about 200 museums participated in the event and now over 1,200 museums take part”, Amy Wilkins, Smithsonian Media’s chief revenue officer told CNBC.

The Aerospace Museum of California, California Museum, and Maidu Museum & Historic Site are taking part in the event, the mission of which is to provide an opportunity for people throughout the United States to enjoy and share in our dynamic heritage and cultural institutions for free. Visitors can explore Cherokee and pioneer cabins, sit in a one-room school house, listen to historic voices, and much more. Tickets needed to be booked-and printed-before arrival to the museum, so play it safe by signing up for your tickets for two on the Smithsonian website and then printing (or saving them on your smartphone) before Saturday.
