Minnesota Vikings QB Shaun Hill: Life as a backup, ‘there’s no warning’

Trading away a first round draft pick is always a hard decision, but Minnesota Vikings general manager may have found a bargain in quarterback Sam Bradford. Listed in the backup slot behind Hill is quarterback Sam Bradford, who the Vikings acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles last Saturday.

That professionalism comes through on the video. “I think that’s the only way that you can approach it”. We will, as a team, attack my rehab with the same vigor and energy. Rumors are swirling that Bradford will compete with Shaun Hill to get the starting place days leading to their season opener. “The past 12 hours, finding out I was going to be here, it’s been a little insane”. Can Bradford pick up enough of the concepts on a Vikings offense centered on Adrian Peterson that he can pull off a functional gameplan with only six days to prepare? In a case like this it seems like the wise choice would be to go with talent, and that would point to Bradford.

To help Bradford’s chances at playing versus the Titans on Sunday, his familiarity with current Minnesota tight ends coach Pat Shurmur could end up helping speed up the learning process before kickoff.

Bradford took part in second practice with the team Monday, two days after the trade with Philadelphia that was triggered by the massive injury to Teddy Bridgewaters left knee.

“When we talked [earlier Thursday], I said to Rick, ‘Rick, this is going to be a premium.’ It had to include their first-round pick in 2017, plus something else”. Wentz missed the last three preseason games because of broken ribs, but personnel chief Howie Roseman said the team is “very confident” about the recovery track he’s been on. “And every player in here does, otherwise you’ll get left behind pretty quickly”.

When asked how he could feel surprised in this day and age of social media and nonstop coverage of the league, Hill said, “I don’t read anything you guys write. You’ve just got to learn everything at once, and that’s just how it’s got to be”.

After losing their quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a torn ACL and a non contact injury suffered during practice, the Minnesota Vikings are making a bold move in giving up the 2017 1 round draft pick and the 2018 fourth round draft pick in order to acquire Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles. Shaun Hill, who backed up Bridgewater past year and has begun his 15th season in the league, is more likely to lead the huddle Sunday at Tennessee. The Vikings sent a private jet to Bradford’s home in Oklahoma, and he arrived at team headquarters late in the afternoon to begin cramming in as much knowledge of Turner’s system as he can.

“We’re not going to stick our heads in the sand”. It’s clear Bradford is.
