The assailant in the Tuesday morning attack was identified by the Palestinian Maan news agency as Issa Salim Mahmoud Tarayra, 16.

A Palestinian was killed on Tuesday as he tried to stab an Israeli soldier outside the West Bank city of Hebron, Israel’s military said in a statement.
It comes nearly one year after a similar spate of stabbings began in October 2015.

Many analysts say Palestinian frustration with the Israeli occupation and settlement building in the West Bank, the complete lack of progress in peace efforts and their own fractured leadership have helped feed the unrest. In some cases, Israel has opened investigations into whether excessive force was used.
