FANTASY PLAYS: When decisions get messy because of injuries

Fantasy football season is in full gear, and if you’re struggling in your friend’s league, you might want to consider playing daily games on DraftKings. Williams (49 percent owned) broke off a 44-yard tackle-breaking touchdown Sunday and has size and speed to stress defenses alongside Travis Benjamin. However, this week he faces an Oakland Raiders defence that has already given up 70 points and over 1,000 yards. With five receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns, Coleman was the only bright spot in a tough 25-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after the Cleveland Browns had a 20-2 lead in the first quarter. And he’s making the most of his opportunities.

As Brees goes, so do his top receivers. If he can hold onto the ball (five fumbles last season) and stay healthy, Gordon can prove to be a legitimate RB1 in most standard fantasy leagues. With Woodhead now out for the season, look for Williams to pick up even more slack that he got after the Allen injury. Jones had 85 yards in Week 1 and 118 on Sunday against the Titans. A big reason to acquire Prescott now is that his next two games are against the Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers, two teams with very beatable defenses. This year, the Raiders are doing the same thing to Latavius Murray. Cruz’s eight catches for 126 yards and a score through two weeks is promising as he continues to regain form.

As ESPN’s Rob Demovsky notes, Rodgers has gone 14 games in a row without a quarterback rating of at least 100. Travaris Cadet saw plenty of snaps but didn’t repeat his touchdown from Week 1. This is for deeper leagues.

He has an average of 18 fantasy points per contest through two games this season. That makes Marcus Mariota a sneaky upside play this week. If he is owned, the likelihood is that he’s not being started so put in a trade offer.

Crowder is a big part of a Redskins offense that is heavy on the pass.

I’m loving Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford this year. Kenny Britt has quietly put together two solid games. Tyrod Taylor hasn’t been the quarterback the Bills have been expecting and the Cardinals defense should be able to get to Tyrod and force him into mistakes.

Mike Wallace is worth a look this week.

The rankings on the following slides are my personal opinion on who you should start and sit this week. He boosts the value of Kyle Rudolph a good deal, and Rudolph is working his way into the TE1 discussion.

Dennis Pitta has had such an interesting career. He too is pushing his name into the TE1 conversation.

So with Week 3 on the horizon, it’s time to make some decisions at your tight end position. There are better options out there than to fish with these teams. Not only are their backups going to be hot pick-ups, but there are a ton of receivers and a few other running backs worth grabbing. The Chiefs defense is normally a threat to opponents, especially in Kansas City, but it’s been weak vs. the run so far, meaning you should have no worries about keeping Matt Forte locked into your lineup. “As Kelvin Benjamin keeps getting better, Funchess” matchups get more intriguing. Do not think about benching a talent like him. It’s our start/sit tool which gives you specific advice for your team.
