I’m Gonna Have To Scare The Pope

Reporter Chris Cuomo asked the billionaire what he would say to Pope Francis come his visit to the U.S.in September.

Cuomo also spoke to Trump about the possibility of meeting the Pope when he visits the United States next month.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump answers a question at a news conference before a campaign rally in Hampton, New Hampshire August 14, 2015.

Trump made the remark as a response, of sorts, to a question from Cuomo asking what would happen if the two met and the pope started talking about the perils of capitalism.

Donald Trump says he would not allow the Pope to criticise capitalism if they were to meet face to face, and would scare him into silence by reminding him that violent jihadis of the Islamic State want to invade the Vatican. That’s a dream of theirs.

Then Cuomo gave a scenario asking the real-estate mogul how he would respond if the pope told him that capitalism can be “toxic” and “corrupt”. “The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God”. But the truth is – you know, if you look at what’s going on – they better hope that capitalism works, because it’s the only thing we have right now. “And it’s a great thing when it works properly”, Trump added.

That message won’t resonate with Trump, who is about as pro-capitalism as it gets.

Forbes estimates his worth to be £2.5billion, but Trump himself claims it is much higher – around £6bn. This, after the UFC champion declared she wouldn’t vote for him.

Trump added that fundamentally, he thought the Pope was “a good guy” and actually said he thought he was probably not opposed to capitalism. “I’ll tell you what, I know some woman that are just – Ronda Rousey is an example, who likes me”.

He said he believed female soldiers should be allowed to fight on the frontlines, although he would take soundings from generals before changing policy where he to become president.
