Detectives took Luc Tieman into custody about 10 a.m. Wednesday in Waterville, near a hotel he stayed in Tuesday night, police said.

Investigators declined to identify the body, but it was found on property at 628 Norridgewock Road, where the missing woman, 34-year-old Valerie Tieman lived with her husband, Luc Tieman, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said late Tuesday afternoon.

He is being held at the Somerset County jail in Maine.

An autopsy is underway at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta, Maine. “Just want her to come out, not be scared”, he told NEWS CENTER on Monday. He told police he went into the store and she wasn’t in the truck when he returned a short time later.

The Tieman family continues to cooperate with police, he said.

Valerie Tieman was last seen August 30 at Wal-Mart in Skowhegan, McCausland said earlier this month.

The husband of a ME woman whose body was discovered buried behind her Fairfield home has been arrested and charged with her murder. Maine State Police joined the investigation four days later. She was reported missing by her parents on September 9, and state police joined the investigation last week.
