Jets coach Todd Bowles gets testy over questions about Bengals loss

Bowles bristled Monday when asked about his secondary’s subpar performance in the Jets’ 23-22 loss to the Bengals, telling reporters that he doesn’t “have time to go over” what transpired less than 24 hours earlier.

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles, master of timeworn cliches, insisted Tuesday that the Thursday game against the Buffalo Bills – the team that ended the Jets’ playoff hopes previous year with a 22-17 win in the regular-season finale – has no more meaning than any other. That’s 152 yards and a touchdown against the man once known as Revis Island, and an astronomical 152.1 passer rating for Dalton.

Gilchrist, who in addition to the previously noted blown coverage committed a key face mask penalty during the final drive and was trucked by Bengals running back Jeremy Hill at the goal line in the third quarter, makes $5 million, the fifth highest base salary in the league for his position.

“You just have to move on to the next kick”, Folk said. “Getting out there, getting set”. But, the Bengals were able to dominate down the field with A.J. It’s the fourth time they’ve started with two games on the road.

“Big day”, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. We’ve just got to tighten some things up. We don’t want to go 0-2.

The Jets put in a solid defensive effort, setting a record by sacking Andy Dalton seven times.

“It’s tough, and it’s not what we wanted”, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said of the Jets’ 23-22 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. “Hopefully we can just keep on going, especially when Sheldon gets back”. And defense got a turnover to win it. “It was a great team effort by everybody”. The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills each played during the 1pm ET time slot, with the Miami Dolphins scheduled for 4:05pm, and the New England Patriots playing in the Sunday Night Football game.

While both teams are still looking for their first win, NY appears to be in a much better position heading into Thursday’s contest. “We can’t give up big plays”. Green connected on 12 of his 13 targets for 180 yards and a touchdown. And in the second quarter, Folk missed the first PAT of his career.

Perhaps this wouldn’t be so widely discussed if the Jets had just held on to the lead late in the game, or if Ryan Fitzpatrick had driven them down the field for a game-winning field goal.

“I don’t lose too much sleep over it”, Jets coach Todd Bowles added Tuesday on a conference call. “Each group made their mistakes, but we’re not going to sit here and lick our wounds”. Peterson struggled in the opener against the Titans defense, rushing for 31 yards on 19 carries. The Jets would follow that up with a methodical five minute ten play drive that ended with a three yard touchdown reception for Quincy Enunwa.

This was the end for the Jets, the moment their Week 1 optimism turned into a gut-punch of a 23-22 loss to the Bengals. But the Jets O-line surrendered just 1 sack on the day.

Complementary Receiving Options: With two new receivers taking prominent roles and Tyler Eifert still rehabbing his ankle, Zampese needed his new pieces to make plays.
