Kansas City Chiefs tackle Eric Fisher to miss time with sprained ankle

The Kansas City Chiefs’ woes on the offensive line continued Monday, as left tackle Eric Fisher suffered an ankle injury and was forced to leave practice. We will have a better idea of his status and the status of others later this morning when the Chiefs return to St. Joe for training camp practice. They lost Allen for the season in the first game because of an elbow injury.

“I think we’ll be OK”, Reid said of the tackle situation. Stephenson will now likely be the right tackle going forward, if the injury is serious enough to force Allen to miss any time.

Andy Reid wasn’t sure on Sunday what he would be doing with his offensive line this week before their second preseason game. Mitch Morse has taken over at center and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has been working out at guard.

Grubbs has started 118 games in the NFL. He barely glanced at Fisher as he limped to the sideline, instead focusing on the 9-on-7 drill during which the big offensive tackle was hurt. His ability to both catch passes and run the football have been evident this summer.

Duvernay-Tardif may be the most surprising name in the mix.

“When those pieces are together and those guys are getting all the reps, there’s some good up there and you’re seeing that as we go”, Pederson said.

NOTES: The Chiefs signed LB Ja’Gared Davis and waived WR Adam Drake after injuries left them short of bodies in Saturday night’s game. Thomas only has a strained calf, so it’s safe to say he will return soon.
