Allegiant to adds flight between Cleveland and New Orleans

We were informed by Allegiant Air that despite great performance at Akron-Canton Airport they will cease service at CAK on February 15, 2017.

US Airways/American Airlines started non-stop service on the route in 2014 after United pulled out but those flights have since been eliminated. The move to Hopkins represents a period of expansion for the airline.

In addition to the move, the company will offer area travelers four new nonstop routes to vacation destinations this winter. “The demand to visit New Orleans is high, and we are excited to provide northeast OH travelers a low-priced, nonstop flight to the Big Easy to experience everything the destination has to offer”. “The demand to visit New Orleans is high, and we are excited to provide northeast OH travelers a low-priced, nonstop flight to the Big Easy”. “This represents a big win for northeast OH and our region”.

Any customers who purchased tickets for flights leaving out of Akron-Canton Airport next year can be re-accomodated from Cleveland Hopkins or receive a full refund. With the announcement, Allegiant will have nonstop service to New Orleans from 10 cities.

“Customers can still very easily and affordably fly to Florida and Myrtle Beach nonstop from CAK”.

In the meantime, Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport Director of Aviation Dan Dickten told the Port Authority Board that efforts to find another carrier to provide daily service in and out of Youngstown continue.
